Abdullah reported: "We were young men during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with no means of marriage. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to us: 'O young people, whoever among you is able to marry, should do so, as it helps to lower the gaze and guard chastity. But whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting serves as a means of protection for him against sinful actions.' [Sahih al-Bukhari]
